Owners, Managers, and Leaders should be supportive of their
employees
1)
Get to know your employee’s: find out
what their goals are and how you can help them achieve those goals. Whether it
be obtaining a higher education, extra training skills, or just to be able have
a balanced work-life balance. Work with them and modify their work schedule so
that they can achieve their goals in life.
2)
Options: Every employer should have an
option plan for their employees. Such as maternity leave program, Telecommuting
program for emergencies, and flexible work hour plan for those who wish to work
a flexible work schedule while going to school or taking care of loved ones.
3)
Being a good leader: Being a good leader
means setting a good example of kindness, thoughtfulness and most importantly
doing what you say your going to do to take care of your employees. You
determine the work hours are between 9-5 Monday through Friday, then stick to
those hours conducting work. If you wake up at 2am never send out an email to
your employees asking them to do something that should be done during normal
business hours. Stick to the normal business hours and don’t over stress or
overwork your employees because you feel it necessary to send out a stupid
unwarranted email after hours. They have a private life and you must respect
their time off.
4) Remember the special days:
Every employee needs to feel special so be a good leader and remember their birthday, anniversary of being hired and even wedding anniversary if they are married.
There is nothing wrong with wishing someone a happy birthday and giving them a card or cake. It’s a tax write off so make it happen.
1) Same goes for work anniversary, involve the entire staff and give them an extra hour to celebrate someone being a part of your team. You will create an environment worthy of staying in and working for.
Treat your people with respect and honor them and you will have a happy, healthy staff.
