Use my 10-minute rule to be more productive

Use my 10-minute rule to be more productive.

If you’re finding it hard to get things done in your life and you’re feeling overwhelmed, then use my 10-minute rule to be more productive. Here’s how it works. Say you’ve got a sink full of dishes, vacuuming to do, laundry to fold, a bed to make or a room to straighten out and you just can’t find the time to get it done. Or better yet you have an idea that you want to write down, but with everything going on in your family and home you just can’t allow yourself to find the time, well stop thinking that way and use my 10-minute rule. Set a timer on your cell phone or baking timer and give yourself 10 minutes to accomplish a task. If you don’t finish it all set the timer for another 10 minutes and finish up. After you’ve accomplished about 10 10-minute rule items you’ll be surprised how much you can get done in a day. Don’t forget to give yourself praise for your productivity that day and repeat it each day until you’ve accomplished everything you want to get done this week.  You can make yourself a list or two so you can check off each item when you’ve done it to see firsthand what you’ve accomplished, that’s if you’re a list maker like me. Same goes with writing. If you plan to write a book or proposal for a new business don’t plan an entire day to do it, schedule a couple of hours and stick to that timeframe to ensure you can achieve the goal in good order. If you try to schedule an entire day, 8 hours you’ll stare at a blank page for at least 4 hours or maybe the entire day. Trust me I’ve been there, so only block out a couple of hours per day each week to write that project.
