How to reinvent yourself after COVID-19-20-21-22-23?
The pandemic caused everyone worldwide to become Couch jockeys that can surf the internet and cause mischief. In some cases, caused people to become antisocial too. It also caused people to lose their jobs, reduce their ability to earn a living, and as a result caused many divorces and breakups of relationships that would have lasted the test of time had they not been cooped up behind closed doors with each other all the time. Some people were lucky to work remotely, while others suffered financially and had to endure the loss of loved ones. No one could visit loved ones or friends stuck in the hospital due to the shutdown or what about attending funerals, weddings, or special occasions took a toll on us all.
We have all learned through this situation that life is made up of major transitions that we must face either alone or together. In this case alone has to do with our own transition because some of us need to reinvent ourselves to survive financially. Some earned a degree online during the pandemic, while others decided to create a new business but it’s not going so well yet. So, let’s consider reevaluating the structure and focus of our lives.
For some of us, this pandemic was brutal. Others considered it a beautiful situation that allowed you to catch up on reading a series of books or binge-watching a television series. Since World War II we have all in the same boat, reevaluating our lives and our financial futures. We’re also coming to grips with the purpose of our lives, why are we here and what is our purpose in life?
What we thought was our purpose changed due to this pandemic. Our political landscape changed, mental and physical health changed and most of all we’ve come upon cultural turmoil and unease throughout the country. However, now is the time to reflect on our lives discover our true purpose in life, and make a plan to secure it accordingly.
The first thing you need to do is figure out and identify what is important to you in this life. Whether it be your spouse/partner, your children, your family, your animals, your faith, or your hobby, make a list of what is important. For me, it’s my writing, my artwork, my cooking, and mentoring people like you to succeed. Second, you must decide how you want to work in the future, flexible hours, work at home, or work in an office space. Do you want to travel more? How about working remotely which would give you the ability to travel and take your work with you anywhere in the world. Do you want to change professions, if so, I getting a degree important to you and if so, what are you waiting for.
You’ve reentered
the world again since the pandemic has lifted. This means procrastination is no
longer your fallback to not being productive in life. Look around your home,
are there things that need to be taken care of, like laundry build up, dishes
in the sink, or dishwasher that need to be put away. Have you piled up the
garbage and let it sit in the garage or hall closet? Start with your home and
make the changes that are necessary to live your life more productively – clean
it from top to bottom. Then make a plan to secure a new job, one that you feel is
right for you and will support your new way of life. You need to find a balance between your
virtual and physical living community. You can’t live online with social media
all the time, so you need to make time to live once again. Again, if your pre-pandemic
job sucked, now is the time to change jobs but don’t dump the old one until you
find a new one.
Let's look at your life balance between work and home/social life. Decide which part of your life became stagnant during the pandemic? What habits did you pick up that are now causing you heartache? Now is the time to decide do you want to be the old you or what lessons did you learn during the pandemic that made you want to change? Remember that while you were held hostage in your home the last few years, you should have done a lot of thinking about how to better your life. What were the results of those thinking hours?
Before you go changing jobs decide what type of job would make you happy and provide you with a salary to make your life more comfortable. Don’t just change jobs for the same pay, that’s not cool, always change jobs because it provides you with better pay, hours, benefits, and most of all, satisfaction. Embrace the new change and make a plan to get that new job. Obtaining a life coach is always a good start to help you define what you want in life if you can’t figure it out for yourself. A life coach will also help you map out a plan to help you obtain all your desires and also help you rewrite your resume, and if you so desire, help you plan out a possible business of your own if that is what you crave.
Any and all
changes that need to be made are your decisions and yes, they will feel terrifying,
but in the end, you’ll be happy you made those changes. Find your new purpose in
life and let’s make it happen.
