Learn Something New Every Day!
When you set your mind to the task of learning something new
every day, it can be about anything you desire. You can learn some trivia that
is meaningless, or important. It can be historical or just something that catches
your attention on that day. Remember there
are no rules to learning something new each day, but it is important to do for
your inquiring mind and to engage your mind and keep your body active and healthy.
It’s also a proven fact that when we learn something new each day it helps our
mental health stay strong and active by activating the chemical dopamine in our
brain which helps create a happy mood within our soul. It also helps reduce stress and increases our
energy level and immune system. This also helps increase your relationship with
the world by knowing and understanding life better. By keeping your mind active
with new knowledge, it allows you to converse with others more freely with a
depth of knowledge that can help boost your sense of purpose in knowing facts
to support your argument on any issue.
So how do you learn something new every day? How about
reading up on a subject you don’t know about for 15 minutes a day. You could
read a book chapter or two during that time. Hit up your library for an
interesting book and start reading it. The internet is an interesting place to
do research, start there if you can’t make it to a library.
How about taking a course at your local college and learning
something new that way. Apply the course to a degree that you crave to obtain. How about a subject matter you’ve always been
interested in and become an expert in the subject. Break down that subject
into various levels, and start at the bottom and work your way up to expert. You
never know with your research you could write up a chapter or more and have enough knowledge to publish a book. You could listen to audiobooks on various subjects
or podcasts of interviews to learn more about a subject or a person.
How about watching YouTube videos to help you learn a craft, the techniques
associated with that craft, or just to learn the subject matter it discusses
and shows.
Documentaries are also a good way to learn new things about
people, places, or historical things. Read a newspaper daily, or just google a
question daily on the internet and see what comes up. I knew someone who
read the dictionary each day and learned the definition of a new word then
tried to use it as often as possible that day until they had memorized it for
future use.
There are so many things to learn each day, all you must do
is apply yourself and just learn something new every day. Go for it and let me
know what you’ve learned one day.
